Earlier this week, ConsumerAffairs.com reported that a California chiropractor has been charged with consumer fraud in a lawsuit by several district attorneys. The suit alleges the Danville, California chiropractor sold a $115,000 DRX-9000 spinal-traction (spinal decompression) machine to other chiropractors and encouraged them to provide expensive treatments for their patients.

Toyota Sued Over Acceleration Claims

Reuters reports that 7 auto insurance companies, including Allstate, are suing Toyota Motor Corp. to recover money they paid in claims for car crashes blamed on unintended acceleration of Toyota vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as many as 89 crash-related deaths since 2000 may be linked to sudden acceleration in Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

Clients often tell me they’ve heard (it’s usually a friend of a friend kind of thing) that their settlement should be 3 times, or 5 times, or even 10 times the amount of the medical bills. There is no easy formula. The value of your case depends on many factors, including the nature and extent of your injuries, the type of medical treatment you receive, the length of time in treatment, residual injuries (such as a scar or limp) and many other factors.
